Since the foundation, investments in the restoration of diverse habitat structures and natural landscape components have been determining the activities of the Association. Initially, for example, fencing out the edges of watercourses or creating small watercourses, the project contents took on larger dimensions over time. Until 2012, this development was financed in the context of the Droemling/Saxony-Anhalt Large-Scale Nature Conservation Project, among other things, to a significant extent by federal and state funding. For example, the Droemling dam system was extensively remodelled and renewed in the interests of nature conservation. On this basis, the fenland sites on approx. 3,500 hectares will be preserved by appropriate water retention. At present, it is important to induce the Ohre creek’s ecological penetrability as the main watercourse. But also projects in the spirit of experiencing nature and landscape in an ecologically justifiable way are gaining in importance.
